This species grows only in SE Romania, mainly in Dobrogea, on sandy soils, at forest-steppe level (woods, wood margins, thickets).

Twining shrub up to 12 m long. Simple membraneous leaves, glabrous (rarely pubescent beneath) with short stems (1 cm).

Multiple flowered cymes. Flowers five-lobed; lobes yellow greenish outside, purple colored and hairy inside.

Stamens curved towards the center, with spiny anthers.

Mature stems reddish brown. Leaf margins sinuate.
