This rare species grows on sand or sandy soils in the vicinity of the Black Sea coast or its coastal lagoons.

Perennial bulbotuber (corm) with 3 basal leafs. Flowers solitary or in fascicles, white to pinkish-purple. Fruit is a capsule.

Perianth segments free, with narrow obovate or elliptical limb. Styles free.

Leaves sulcate, appear together with flowers, at first shorter than the flower, later outgroing it.

Flowers solitary or in fascicles. Lower part of flowers and leaves covered in membraneous tunic.

Length of stamens is 1/2 that of the limb. Stamens inserted at limb's base.
